Preheat the Oven
Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This is the initial step in creating your sensational Garlic Roasted Hummus.
Prepare the Garlic
Take your whole garlic heads and carefully slice off a thin layer from the tops, exposing the individual cloves. This step allows the garlic to roast evenly and infuse your hummus with its delightful flavor. Place the prepared garlic heads in a baking dish, ready for their aromatic transformation.
Infuse with Olive Oil and Spices
Drizzle a generous amount of olive oil over the garlic heads to elevate the garlic's flavor. Sprinkle a well-balanced spice mix of paprika, onion salt, parsley, and oregano on top. These spices will imbue the garlic with a rich, savory essence.
Roasting the Garlic
Carefully transfer the baking dish into the preheated oven. Allow the garlic to roast for approximately 20-30 minutes or until the cloves become wonderfully soft and fragrant. The tantalizing aroma filling your kitchen will be a delightful preview of what's to come.
Preparing the Hummus Base
While the garlic is undergoing its delightful transformation in the oven, it's time to start assembling the base of your hummus. Combine chickpeas, lemon juice, tahini, olive oil, and a medley of spices in a blender or food processor. These elements will form the heart of your creamy hummus.
Incorporating the Roasted Garlic
Once your garlic cloves are beautifully roasted and ready, squeeze them gently out of their papery casings into your blender or food processor. The infusion of roasted garlic will impart an irresistibly complex and savory depth to your hummus.
Blend to Perfection
With all the ingredients in place, start the blending process. Add approximately half of the olive oil from the baking dish where the garlic is cooked. The infused oil will introduce a luscious garlic essence to the hummus base. Blend everything until it reaches a velvety smooth consistency.
Achieving the Ideal Texture
Introduce about 1/4 cup of ice-cold filtered water to your hummus mixture for that perfect, silky-smooth texture. You can add more water to achieve your desired consistency depending on your preference. Taste-test your hummus at this stage to ascertain if any additional salt, pepper, or spices are required.
Plating and Garnishing
Now, it's time to present your masterpiece. Transfer your hummus to a serving bowl or spread it gracefully on a platter. For a final flourish, top your hummus with a generous sprinkle of Za'atar, the remaining roasted garlic olive oil, roasted chickpeas, fresh herbs, or other toppings that tantalize your taste buds.
This Garlic Roasted Hummus is now ready to delight your palate. Its versatility lends to many serving options, from a flavorful dip for fresh veggies to an elegant addition to your charcuterie board. Enjoy it as is, or let your creativity run wild with toppings and pairings. Your homemade hummus experience will be exquisite, and we hope you relish every savory bite!
